Demelza Spencer-Veale

Derek ConnellyDemelza qualified in Adult nursing in 2001, initially working in a trauma and orthopaedic unit for three years before transferring to primary care. She has worked in primary care for nineteen years, ten years in the role of nurse manager and chronic disease lead nurse. Always passionate about lower limb care, she achieved a BSc Hons in Enhanced Clinical Practice in wound management in 2011 and gained the independent prescriber qualification in 2015. Whilst working in practice Demelza organised and ran leg ulcer clinics, offering patients refreshments and an opportunity to socialise. Shortly after, she discovered the Lindsay leg Club Foundation and has been an advocate of this social model and the foundation’s work. In 2018 Demelza was given the opportunity to set up five Leg Clubs running Monday to Friday in the Weymouth locality of Dorset. The Leg Clubs were opened in May 2019 and have proved a great success.

Demelza is very much looking forward to her new role as a Trustee of the Lindsay Leg Club Foundation and promoting the superb work of the Leg Club.

Demelza lives with her husband and two sons in a rural coastal hamlet in Dorset. She enjoys mountain biking with her family and is an enthusiastic marathon runner.
