Alistair McInnes BSc(Hons); DpodM HPC Regd

Alistair qualified from the Glasgow School of Chiropody in 1973. He has worked in the NHS and private sector and has held academic posts from with the University of Brighton (1990 -2001) and the University of Southampton (2001-2003). He currently holds a position as a senior lecturer with the University of Brighton where he teaches on the MSc Podiatry and the multidisciplinary MSc Diabetes programmes. Alistair has been involved with Diabetes foot care for many years, and has presented at both National and International Diabetes conferences. He is a teacher and chief examiner on the diabetic foot module run by the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and has been invited to speak at many National Podiatry conferences on various aspects of the diabetic foot. His research interests include diabetic foot problems and diabetic foot health education. He has represented Podiatry on several committees of Diabetes UK (formerly British Diabetic Association) and has made representations at the Dept of Health and on a NICE committee on diabetes education. Alistair has published many articles on diabetes foot care and is the editor of the Diabetic Foot Journal.
